These like to
break periodically, but are easy to replace. The one part number fits either
side. |

| Note: These are color coded, and you MUST have the paint
code for your car to order the correct one. The paint code is on the serial
plate located on the firewall, in the engine bay, on the passenger side. Look
for the two letters/number that match the last two digits of the part number.
If your car is no longer the factory color, then you are on your own on
matching colors. |

Antennas
The factory units are not cheap. Normally,
if you can hear the antenna motor running when you turn the stereo on or off,
the motor is fine, and you can replace just the mast.
On 79-85 cars, it is a little tricky to wrap
the long nylon back into the winder, without letting many little springs and
things go springing off into never-never land. Be very careful, and YOU have to
remember how everything goes back together. We have done a lot of them, and
most go OK, although there are the times we wish we hadn't started. The right
taillight, and interior panels need to be removed in order to get the assembly
out of the car.
The 86-92 ones are much easier to replace.
Quite often, if we can fish the piece of nylon out, after it broke, then the
new mast can be "rolled" in (carefully - and you need a second person). With
the stereo on, the new mast is started by feeding the nylon down the hole, then
having somebody turn the stereo off, and feeding the unit down into place, as
it normally winds down. However, a much safer way is go ahead and remove the
unit, and feed it normally.
We have an FAQ on replacing

Note: the rubber replacement saves the cost of antenna mast/motor
replacement. We have also found a number of aftermarket stereo systems that are
not electronically compatible (unless relays are installed) with the original
antenna.

| Note: If this
seal is not in good shape, and the latch not adjusted correctly, you can get
really bad exhaust fumes in the car. We have had many customers keep getting
"tune-ups" at various other shops, trying to get rid of the fumes. They did not
believe the seal was the problem until they reluctantly let us replace it.
Fumes can also come into the car from bad taillight seals, as well as from rust
holes and terrible body work, where they left holes. |
| Sunroof Seals
|
| When these seals are worn out,
nicked, or shruken too much, you simply get that irritating water
leaking/dripping on yourself, or your passenger. The 79-85 seals go on the body
below the sunroof, while the 86-95 go around the edge of the sunroof itself.
