Installation of RB 93-95 Inlet Duct
The written instructions, that come with this duct, have always been a little hard to visualize. This pictorial installation guide has been written to more fully show how the installation is done.
These pics are of a black duct being installed in a black engine bay, using black silicone -- very hard to do decent images.

Remove stock inlet piece. |

Remove those terrible clamps on the hoses going to the filter housing. |
![]() |
Remove clamp on other end of inlet hose, or just loosen and push up out of the way. |
![]() |
Remove screws that hold the filter housing top, and remove top. |
![]() |
Remove lower part of filter housing - there are three bolts holding it in. |
![]() |
Using a hammer and a sharp punch, chisel, gasket scraper, putty knife, etc., remove the rivets holding the original duct to the filter housing. The instructions say to drill them out, which also works. |

This shows the piece you are removing in the above step. |

Remove two bolts holding relay box in place (no need to remove ANY wires), and flip up out of the way. |

This is the RB duct you are installing. Doesn't look like much, but it works very well. |

Simple shot of the hardware that is supplied with the new duct. The strap piece is used to hold the relay box in its new position. |

Mount the lower half of the duct onto the lower filter housing. We prefer waiting till later to re-install this piece using silicone sealer. |

Put the lower assembly back in place, and mark the area to be cut -- shown here by the white line. |
![]() |
Here is a close-up of the white outlined cut to be
done. For marking, we prefer using "white out" pen things we get at the local
office supply places. After marking, remove the lower assembly. |
![]() |
We use a neat air powered hack saw to do the cut. A "hot knife" will work, sharp utility knife, soldering iron, or a hacksaw blade (and rag), maybe a jigsaw. |

Remove the lower part of the duct installed earlier. Apply silicone around the inlet hole lip (lower half). Reinstall the lower part of the duct onto the lower part of the filter housing. |
![]() |
Install the lower assembly into the car. Run a bead of silicone ALL the way around the mating surfaces of the two parts of the duct, AND where the duct meets the original plastic (where you cut the piece out). |
![]() |
This just shows the bead of silicone done in the above step. |
![]() |
Install the top part of the duct using the supplied screws. |

The relay box is relocated to this position. The end bracket is removed, bent 90 degrees, and reinstalled. |
| Hook all the hoses back up that you previously removed, check all connections, etc. and you are done. | |
