Mazdatrix Drag Car

The year 2000 has been
pretty empty for us -- we ran the 02/26/00 Saturday at Pomona (track was
consistently oiled, then Sunday was rained out), then lost the engine on
Saturday at LACR/Palmdale on 03/03/00. We were far too busy (business still
always has to come first) to get the car ready for the LACR/Palmdale event
5/8/00.
The Fontana event in September is only 1/8 mile!! Since Dave considers 1/4 mile in 8, 9, or 10 seconds WAY too short of driving time anyway (after 24 years of Pro and Amatuer road racing), we are not planning on going to Fontana.
The October event at Pomona has been cancelled (and moved to Houston?).
There is an NIRA event at Las Vegas in November we may attend.
All-in-all it is a very dismal scene for
import drag racing in the southern California area. The number of events seems
to have decreased over the last few years, and attendance (both cars and
spectators) at the events that occur has been very low.
We are not sure of
the 2001 schedule, but really hope it is better than this
year.
