Lightweight Rotors

Racing Beat's RX-8 Lightened Rotor Assemblies are machined lightened using a CNC (computer numerically controlled) mill. These rotors are based on the stock RX-8 rotors and the initial weight of each rotor is approximately 9.2 pounds, and upon completion of the machining process the weight is reduced to approximately 9.0 pounds.


The Racing Beat machining process involves the installation of a snap ring between the rotor gear and the basic rotor to prevent the rotor gear from working away from the basic rotor at higher RPM. The ring gear is removed using a hydraulic press, and then an indexing groove is cut into both the rotor and the ring gear. A snap-ring is placed into the groove on the ring gear, and the assembly is placed into the rotor. Once the snap-ring expands into the groove on the rotor, the ring gear is permanently seated onto the rotor. After completion of the machining process, each pair of rotors is fully balanced with matching front and rear counterweights to provide an assembly capable of high RPM operation.

* If using the RX8 rear gear in an earlier 13b engine, you must add sealant where the rear gear o-ring WOULD be. There is no groove to hold the o-ring because the Renesis engine mounts the o-ring in the side housing rather than on the gear. We recommend using Hylomar, but a THIN layer of silicone sealant will also suffice.

Renesis Rotor Kit

(All seals & springs necessary for 2 rotors)

Each kit does 2 Rotors, and includes the following; Apex Seals, Apex Seal Springs, Corner Seals, Corner Seal Springs, Oil Control Rings, Oil Control Ring Springs, Blowby Rings, Blowby Springs, Side Seals and Side Seal Springs. This kit does not include oil control O-Rings, they are included in the o-ring set below.

RX-8 side seals come in four different lengths. The side of the rotor is stamped with the letter that determines which side seal to use. this is explained further below. When ordering a rotor kit you must tell us what lengths and how many of each you need.

When using these rotors in an actual RX-8 side exhaust port engine, Mazda uses very loose side seal to corner seal end clearance. When using these rotors in a side intake motor, such as RX-7, we reccomend a much tighter side seal to corner seal clearance. To get to this, you need to specify/buy the extra length uncut side seals as shown lower on this page.
