Apex Seals
Note: The carbon apex seals are designed for racing only. They seal better above 8k rpm due to their lighter weight. They do NOT last very long (20k miles on the high side), and do NOT seal well at low rpm's (like starting and at idle).
Not recommended for turbo, supercharged, or nitrous engines.

All part numbers are for ONE seal, six seals needed per 2-rotor engine.

Notes on Apex Seal Side Piece (74-85 only)
(This triangular piece is included with any NEW apex seal, but is also available separately)
Note: The original OEM apex seals 74-76? had the corner piece with a squared-off tip that sat completely below the apex seal. This apex seal has a square end and is longer. The later (78-85) triangular piece has a rounded tip, and sits along the apex seal such that it is actually the last part of the seal length. This apex seal has a rounded end. These two types are NOT interchangeable. The early style is very rare, and all the APEX SEALS we sell are the later type. We have always strongly recommended buying NEW apex seals, in which case this entire discussion is not needed.

Rotor Side Oil Seals (Oil Control Rings) and the "O" Rings that go inside them
Note: Mazda does the quantitiy per part number on the oil control rings (NOT the "O" rings) different than about any other engine parts. One part number is a PAIR of oil control rings (one inner one + one outer one). Meaning you need 4 of part number 11-S10A-N3Z1 to build one 2-rotor engine.
The "O" rings are ONE per part number -- 4 of each needed per 2-rotor engine.

Mazda Factory O-Rings
Note: Mazda keeps alternating the color on the outer "O" rings between green and black. They both seem to work quite fine, we just never know which are coming in on any given stock order. These are sold individually- you need 4 large and 4 small to do one 2-rotor engine.

Oil Control Ring Springs
These all "look" the same - no reason for multiple large images so just this one. The outer ones are larger diameter than the inner ones.
The "location" of the springs on the rotors is color coded. Each part number is ONE spring -- two of each needed per 2-rotor engine.
